► Deliveries of Western armored vehicles will only “prolong the suffering” of Ukrainians, according to the Kremlin

The deliveries to Ukraine of armored infantry and other weapons announced last week by several Western countries will only “to prolong the suffering” Ukrainians and “will not change” balance of power, the Kremlin said on Monday.

“Europe, NATO and the United States have already injected tens of billions of dollars into Ukraine and arms deliveries”, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters. “Fundamentally, these deliveries cannot and will not change anything (…). These deliveries can only prolong the suffering of the Ukrainian people,” he added.

Last week, the United States announced major new military aid to Ukraine valued at more than $3 billion, including 50 Bradley-class armored infantry and dozens of other armored vehicles.

► The EU and NATO are stepping up their cooperation against Moscow

NATO and the European Union undertake to strengthen their cooperation after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine which threatens security in Europe, says a joint statement seen by AFP.

The two Brussels-based organizations have sought to improve their coordination for years and want to dispel the feeling that efforts to strengthen the EU’s role in defense are undermining the US-led alliance.

This joint statement is to be signed on Tuesday by Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, European Council President Charles Michel and Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
